In summer 2008. the Contra Costa Water District's broke ground on the alternative intake project. The AIP will help insure high quality drinking water to county residents through greater flexibility, but will not increase diversions from the delta. Funded by proposition 84, which included $5.4 billion for water infrastructure, the $100 million project will be completed July 2010. Bob Henry is the lead engineer for the Alternative Intake Project.
