West Oakland is a neighborhood the City Government has largely forgotten. Former industrial sites mix with historic homes creating a landscape as diverse as the residents who inhabit it. A place for metal-working steampunks, african-american home owners, underground artists and, more recently, commuting tech workers attracted by the proximity to San Francisco. It is a neighborhood worth picturing as it transitions to it's next iteration, always unpredictable and untamed by the forces of gentrification.
