A Seven-Seas Knockabout

22 images Created 17 Nov 2020

After High School I joined the US Coast Guard and was stationed in Alameda, CA, eventually landing on the Boutwell, a 378 foot cutter - the second largest class of ships in the Coast Guard. We where scheduled to join a training patrol with the US Navy Constellation battlegroup, handling logistics and security in the Persian Gulf.

September 11, 2001, changed the nature of that patrol, from a training exercise to a very real deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

I was photographing everything I could at the time. Here is a selection of scans from life underway on the Seven Seas, from the Northern Arabian Gulf to the Bering Straight.
